Purple succulents and flowering plants in a terracotta planter on a garden patio

The story behind ModPots

Sculptural botanical design, made in Victoria since 2012.

Our Story

Our work rests on a single tension: a precise structure holding something alive. The geometry is controlled. The life inside it is not. We do not smooth that out. It is the whole point.

We treat plant material the way a sculptor treats stone, with intention, with restraint, and with a long view of what a space becomes. What we make is meant to be looked at the way you'd look at a sculpture, not a houseplant.

We believe restraint is a skill, not a compromise, and that fewer, bolder choices beat abundance.

Design that lives.

Why ModPots

We create botanical installations through intentional design, meticulous execution, and an unwavering commitment to craft

Clarity

We design with intention first, translating your space's purpose into a clear botanical concept before a single piece is placed.

Precision

Every installation is engineered and fitted to the space, not adapted from a catalog, so the fit is exact and the impact is deliberate.

Function

Living design has to perform in real spaces, real light, real foot traffic. We build installations that hold up to how a space is actually used.

Longevity

Moss art and sculptural planting are built to last, with materials and maintenance plans designed for years, not seasons.

Our Team

Jake Thomson

Jake is the studio's horticultural depth.

Red Seal certified, he is responsible for plant health and for the part clients never think about but always feel: whether the work is still thriving a year later. He is why ModPots can promise permanence and mean it.

Jessica Giebelhaus

Jessica sits where design meets the living material.

She coordinates the plants, vessels, and details a design calls for, prepares the work, and holds quality tight from the studio to the site. A Red Seal Horticulture candidate, she is building the same dual fluency the studio runs on: design sense and horticultural rigor.

Heron Hanuman

Heron runs the studio and owns the client experience.

He came to ModPots from two decades telling stories for a living, in documentary and broadcast, which sounds like a strange background for a botanical studio until you see what it brings: an instinct for how a brand should feel, an eye for the moment a space actually lands, and the operational spine that gets work delivered on time and to standard.

Jen Lasko

Jen is the design mind of the studio.

Seventeen years in horticulture and design, from creating the planter displays at Southlands Nursery to designing the residential and commercial spaces ModPots builds today, have made her fluent in both halves of the work: what a room needs to feel composed, and what it takes to keep a living thing thriving once it's in.

She leads the design on every project, and she's the reason ModPots reads as a studio, not a service.

Our Partners

Since 2012, we've partnered with developers, hospitality groups, and property teams to bring lasting botanical design into the spaces they build.
