Q 1. Do you have a four-season planting plan for clients?
Yes! We can change your pots up to four times per year.
Each season we have so many new design ideas and different embellishments we can add. For spring, flowers in pots with pussy willows, fresh greens, forced bulbs can brighten any mood. Summertime succulents are popular and great as a table centrepiece. For autumn we love mixing pumpkins, gourds and taller curly willow into our designs for a rustic fall look. At Christmas we love using natural greens like cedar, fir and pine mixed with some sparkly lights and fun accessories for our planters and our wreaths.
Q 2. Do you supply the pots or can we use our own?
If your pots are in good shape and match the style and scale for your house we can use them. But there are also many great suppliers we use and can recommend and source the pots as needed. Perhaps you are looking for something one of a kind...for that, custom made planters with custom colours may be a great way to create something truly unique.
Q 3. What kind of soils do you use?
That depends on the type of plants we are using as some, like succulents, require soil that drains more effectively. Generally, we use only the best organic potting soils. Many people don’t realize if you start with good soil your plants will last longer and be happier!
Q 4. I have a bit of a green thumb but need some help, can I hire you?
Absolutely! We obviously love what we do and some of our clients enjoy getting their hands dirty. We can help inspire your space with some design ideas, ideal plants to use and even local trusted suppliers for planters, pots, furniture and accessories. We offer both online and in-person consultations. Visit our Online Store to book your session today.
Q 5. Where do you buy your plants from?
We have great suppliers here on Vancouver Island that we do a lot of business with. Certain times we will bring some inventory from Metro Vancouver but we do try and support local businesses here first. We are very precise when it comes to choosing plants, and will only use what looks healthy and comes from well maintained stock.
Q6. How do we maintain Modpots moss art?
The moss is preserved and dried. One suggestion is to avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as the moss may fade over time. It's best enjoyed where real plants are not easy to grow. The moss will bring a lot of personality and freshness to the room.
Q7. How long do the moss art pieces last?
They typically last anywhere from 7-8 years and longer if there is some humidity in the room, or an open window. The ferns may need a touch up or replacement every few years. Simply hang and enjoy!
Q8. I love your unique and beautiful creations and am terrified of ruining it! Can you maintain your work?
We do offer maintenance programs to make sure your Modpots designs are living their best life. We also believe you should play a role in this and always provide you with detailed watering and simple maintenance tips to keep you going till you are ready for a seasonal change.
Q9. I’d like to book a workshop for a birthday party, is that possible?
We’ve had a few birthday workshops and it’s a blast, especially for the first timers! We offer several seasonal workshops to create centrepieces, succulent planters, fall and winter wreaths. Visit our Workshops page to see our workshop availability today.
