Best low-light indoor plants

In your vignette, you can have plants with different leaf shapes, sizes, and colours which makes for a high visual impact display. And have fun with the planter colours - a mix of terracotta, creamy white, and perhaps a fun pattern.

  1. Zamioculcas

Easy / waxy leaf / vertical growth habit

  2. Sansevieria

Easy / low light & low water / vertical growth habit

Comes in various sizes as well as heights. It’s nice to have 1 of each, Gold bar tall variety with yellow band &  Birds nest - short and wider. You will be watering this plant less often compared to the others. Do the finger test first to see if/when this one needs water.

  3. Pothos

This is a lovely trailing plant that could be trailing down one side of your fireplace (wall side) the only drawback this one is toxic to cats. You could have the long tendrils displayed across the bottom of your display and not trail. Lots of variety in colours and super easy plants.

  4. Calathea

Lots of variety with this one. They are low to medium light plants w/ different shapes of leaves -some oval, some round, some pointed - very nice plant.

  5. Hawarthia

These smaller plants make a visual impact with a smaller footprint. Some people call them zebra plants.

Additional plants to consider: Spider plants & ferns
